This part of ISO 11452 specifies test methods and procedures for testing electromagnetic immunity to portable transmitters of electronic components for passenger cars and commercial vehicles regardless of the propulsion system (e.g spark-ignition engine, diesel engine, electric motor). To perform this test method, the device under test (DUT) along with the wiring harness (prototype or standard test harness) is subjected to the electromagnetic disturbance generated by portable transmitters inside an absorber-lined shielded enclosure. Peripheral devices may be in an absorber-lined shielded enclosure or outside. The electromagnetic disturbances considered in this part of ISO 11452 are limited to continuous narrowband electromagnetic fields. Immunity measurements of complete vehicles are generally only possible by the vehicle manufacturer. The reasons, for example, are the high cost of an absorber-lined shielded enclosure preserving the secrecy of prototypes, or the large number of different vehicles models. Therefore, for research, development and quality control, a laboratory measuring method is used by the vehicle manufacturer and equipment suppliers to test electronic components. Part 1 of ISO 11452 specifies general test conditions, definitions, practical use and basic principles of the test procedure.
