The ONYX VISION platform is offered in 8, 16 and 30 kV versions. Higher voltage capability can be enabled by purchasing an unlock code. Select the voltage license, discharge network and accessories required for your application; the 8 kV configuration remains limited to 8 kV until upgraded.

Camera-assisted ESD testing

View the impulse point directly on the simulator and capture photographs before and after a discharge. The internal 8 GB microSD card stores more than 1,000 pictures for later review, troubleshooting and reporting. The brochure photograph shows a higher-voltage family configuration; ONYX VISION 8 output is limited to 8 kV.

Options and Accessories

Choose discharge networks, tips, support equipment and calibration options for your test setup. The illustrated selection combines current ONYX VISION options with compatible accessories from the ONYX range.

The installed voltage license determines the simulator output limit. A higher-rated tip or RC network does not increase an 8 kV unit to 16 or 30 kV; a purchased voltage upgrade is required.

Use ONYX VISION 8 for ESD immunity testing within its 8 kV contact and air discharge range. Applications include product development, troubleshooting and repeatable testing of electronic equipment. Choose a higher-voltage configuration when the required test level exceeds 8 kV.

These are family-level application references. Applicable tests depend on the voltage model, RC network, accessories and validated setup. An 8 kV unit does not cover test levels above 8 kV without an upgrade. Use the OEM specification revision required by the customer or vehicle program; the references do not imply compliance with every requirement of each standard.

Practical questions

Can ONYX VISION 8 be upgraded later?

Yes. Higher-voltage capability can be enabled with a purchased unlock code. The family includes 8, 16 and 30 kV versions; specify the required final voltage when ordering an upgrade.

Does the camera measure the ESD waveform?

The camera provides a live view and photographs of the test area. Waveform verification requires the appropriate verification equipment, such as the optional PET 4000 and a suitable measurement setup.

Can I reuse my existing ONYX RC modules?

The brochure states compatibility with RC modules from the previous ONYX generation. Select the module appropriate to the required waveform and test method.

Is 8 kV enough for every IEC 61000-4-2 test?

The 8 kV version is limited to 8 kV in both contact and air discharge modes. If your test plan calls for a higher air or contact discharge level, select or unlock a higher-voltage version.

Is software included?

ESDVision Basic and Pro are listed as optional software. The instrument includes its touchscreen interface; specify the software option required for remote control and reporting.
