The Helicopter 300kV ESD Test System is a state-of-the-art solution for evaluating the effects of electrostatic discharges (ESD) on helicopters, aircraft, and other sensitive equipment. This system is specifically designed to simulate real-world scenarios, such as high-voltage discharges caused by flying through dust, rain, or snow, and to verify compliance with key military and NATO standards, including MIL-STD-331, MIL-STD-464, NATO AECTP-250, and AECTP-500.
Key Features
High Voltage Performance: Generates electrostatic discharges up to 300 kV, with reversible polarity.
Height and Angle Adjustability: The discharge electrode is adjustable from 1.5 to 6 meters in height and ±60° tilt for precise targeting.
Automated and Safe Operation: Remote-controlled via PC-based software with fiber optic transmission for electrical isolation.
Comprehensive Testing Capabilities:
Discharge from a charged electrode to a grounded Equipment Under Test (EUT).
Discharge from a charged EUT to a grounded electrode.
Standards Compliance: Meets requirements of MIL-STD-331 C/D, MIL-STD-464C, NATO AECTP-250 leaflet 253, and more.
Example of test setup Charged electrode and grounded EUT The ESD is generated by charging up an electrode to the specification voltage, and then discharging the electrode to grounded EUT. The discharge current pulse is monitored by an embedded oscilloscope. A computer running Montena Pulse Control software controls the HV generator through a fibre optic transmission, that allows to electrically isolate the operator from the test setup.
