BNB 8656 HV Line Stabilization Network (LISN)

A LISN, implemented as a battery impedance network here, shall supply electric power to the device under test (DuT) and provide a standardized impedance. It has been developed for automotive tests e.g. to fulfill the requirements of the manufacturer standard ISO 21498-2:2021-03, MBN 11123:2021-08, BMW 95024-2-2:2011-02, PSA B21 7112:2021-05, VW 80300:2021-02.

The BNB 8656 is constructed symmetrically with two paths, “HV+” and “HV-“, with variable power resistors in each path.

A battery can be simulated by various internal resistors. Five possible values are available for Rint: 2 x 100 mΩ, 2 x 60 mΩ, 2 x 50 mΩ, 2 x 25 mΩ and 2 x 10 mΩ (one resistor in each path).

At the mains connection, marked as "HV-" and "HV+" (Fig.2), a blocking capacitor up to 10mF could be connected (capacitors C1...C4 are connected via bridges B8...B11 - see Fig. 2).

The built in components have no specific polarity. The paths are isolated from the housing.

The BNB 8656 is liquid cooled, an appropriate cooling device with temperature monitoring must be provided by the customer.

Hazard warnings

Only qualified personal may use this device.

Voltage supply and DuT may only be connected or disconnected when all components of the BNB 8656 are completely discharged and no voltage can be measured at the terminals.

Disregarding this rule is life threatening!
