HHS 5210-100 2.5 - DC - 10 kHz, Square Helmholtz Coils

Square Helmholtz Coils

Precisely defined magnetic fields. DC - 10 kHz.

The Schwarzbeck HHS 5210-100-2.5 generates defined magnetic fields from DC to 10 kHz. Its 100-turn coils provide a calculable relationship between drive current and magnetic field strength.

SPECIFICATIONS

 DC - 10 kHz

Usable frequency range
12 AContinuous nominal coil current
100 turnsPer coil
Defined by geometry

A calculable field.
A traceable measurement.

Magnetic field strength is proportional to coil current. Coil geometry, the number of turns and the applied current determine the resulting field, allowing the field measurement to be traced to a current measurement or the voltage drop across a known resistor.

The field depends on coil spacing and the position within the test volume. Use the reference spacings in the specifications and the field distribution data in the datasheet when selecting your setup.

Plan your test setup

Match the field to your application.

Continuous operation

The nominal coil current is 12 A continuous. The specified nominal magnetic field is 1746 A/m continuous. Field values apply at the stated reference spacing.

Short-duration operation

The maximum coil current is 20 A (5 min.). Observe the stated time limit and provide adequate ventilation. The frequency range alone does not imply that maximum current or field is available at every frequency.

NFCN 9732-120 - Compensation Network

The compensation network NFCN 9732-120 consists of a capacitor and a fuse in series. It is used for series compensation of the HHS 5210-100 at electrical mains frequencies of 50 Hz to 60 Hz.

The compensation capacitor reduces the total impedance of the series circuitry consisting of the Helmholtz coils HHS 5210-100 and the NFCN 9732-120 at the operating frequencies of 50 to 60 Hz. It allows continuous currents of up to 8 A rms at generator voltages of less than 70 Vrms ...80 Vrms

Installation and operating safety

Read the supplied datasheet before use. Switch off the complete system before making or removing connections and do not touch terminals during operation. Observe all voltage, current and time limits. High currents heat the coils; maintain adequate air circulation. Keep unintended magnetic field sources and magnetic materials away from the test volume.
