SHUNT 9571 Precision High Power Current ShuntThe SHUNT 9571 is a measuring resistor that can be used in systems where magnetic fields have to be generated. When connected in series between an amplifier and a Helmholtz coil, the current can be measured indirectly. The voltage drop is proportional to the current through the coil. The low inductive construction allows touse the SHUNT 9571 up to 250 kHz.Individual correction values for |Z| is provided in the calibration certificate from dc to 250 kHz. Helmholtz coils act like a short circuit at low frequencies. The SHUNT 9571provides a protection circuit for the amplifier and has a resistive minimum load. The Shunt 9571 consists of two independent resistor banks of 0.5 which can dissipate 400 W of power each. The resistance values of 1.0 and 0.25 can be achieved using the two aluminum brackets included in the delivery.
Specifications:
This high-power shunt is ideal for measuring currents or to be used as a load. many EMC test standards based on MIL-STD-461 required RF current to be measured across a shunt. the Sunt needs to be known to operate at higher frequencies making this an ideal product to meet many requirements for 0.25, 0.5, and 1-ohm needs.
The fans get activated automatically when high temperatures occur. When the shunt is overheated an acoustic warning signal rings out and a red light-emitting diode at the front panel illuminates. The load has to be reduced or turned off and the shunt has to cool down while the fans are in operation. Do not remove the power cable while fans are running!
